Most of us experience moments where everything changes in an instant, and we’re left trying to find our footing again. For me, that’s happened more than once — and while each situation was different, they all had something in common (and yes, that something might have been me… haha).
Each time, it felt overwhelming. The plans we had no longer fit, and the path forward looked nothing like what we’d imagined. But life didn’t stop — it kept moving — and we had to move with it. Support from others, honest self-reflection, and a healthy dose of determination helped my family and me adjust, even when the outcome wasn’t what we’d hoped for.
Getting through challenging times takes more than just pushing on. It requires doing the inner work, reaching out for guidance, and accepting what’s happened without turning it inward as blame. It’s okay to grieve what you thought life would look like — just don’t live there forever. Resilience isn’t about going back to how things were; it’s about learning how to grow into who you need to become next.
Progress often comes in small, almost invisible steps. Self-compassion matters. Be gentle with yourself, celebrate even the slow progress, and allow yourself the grace to stumble, learn, and stand back up again. Looking back on past experiences can offer powerful insights too — helping you recognise patterns, understand what shaped you, and make more informed choices moving forward.
Above all, be kind to yourself. Asking for help isn’t a weakness — it’s a sign of strength and self-awareness. Growth doesn’t always come from big breakthroughs; more often, it’s built through small victories that quietly add up over time.

Life’s upheavals can feel daunting, but they can also open doors you never expected. If you’re willing to embrace the journey with an open heart, you may find that the path ahead leads to growth, resilience, and purpose in ways you never imagined.
