TARDISS is a small not-for-profit community based organisation which is registered under the Federal Government's National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We also have the ability to work with privately funded participants, plan managers and self-managed participants.
TARDISS is different because we put the participant and the families first! We aim to help participants achieve their goals and aspirations into reality. Being a small team, we have the flexibility and adaptability for our participants' changing needs.
Tardiss is there to support you through your NDIS registration, planning and implementation.
The NDIS has adopted a model of self-management, shared management and supported management which is directly in line with Tardiss values and principles. Tardiss is not just complying with this new scheme but we believe in its founding principles of providing options and choice to participants.
The NDIS is a new way of providing individualised support for people with an impairment or condition that is likely to be permanent, or a developmental delay that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities. The Scheme is being implemented by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
The NDIS is being introduced in stages, because it’s a big change and it is important to get it right and make it sustainable.
From 1 April 2016, the NDIS has progressively become available for children and young people (0-17 years) in Townsville and Charters Towers and all Palm Island participants. From 1 October 2016 all remaining eligible people in Townsville, Hinchinbrook, Burdekin, west to Mount Isa, and up to the gulf will be able to access the scheme.
